Course Outline

Self-harm and suicide are escalated measures with distinct emotional factors. The CAC Learning Centre offers training to help individuals understand the motivational indicators specific to each consideration, and how to understand surrounding concerns. This training is ideal for individuals working with vulnerable people in care, as well as those wanting to increase their knowledge around suicide, self-harm, and best practices to keep one's self safe while supporting a person in need of first responder intervention.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE / GOALS:

• Understand the socio-economic and social determinants of self-harm implications
• Learn about demystification of self-injury and self-harming behaviors as well as environmental triggers
• Learn to identify and differentiate between self-harm and a suicide attempt
• Critical “Dos & Don'ts” for care givers

OUTCOME (Certificate, etc.)
A certificate course renewed every three years.
