Course Outline

This course discusses suicide and raises one’s awareness and understanding of suicide, while looking at how individuals at risk are affected by both personal and socio-economic factors. In addition to learning how to identify risk alerts, effectively respond to, provide immediate care, and properly report suicide to the authorities, you will learn to recognize that suicide prevention is broader than suicide intervention and includes life promotion and self-care for persons at risk.

• Learn the difference between, self-harm, unintentional suicide, attempted suicide, and suicide
• Learn how to identify a situation, report it to proper authorities, and how to support the individual until a trained professional can assess it and provide needed care
